The last name Rosehearts comes from the words "rose" as a reference to the Queen's favorite flowers and "hearts" as a more overt reference to the Queen of Hearts. Riddle's name is an allusion to Alice in Wonderland's protagonist, Alice Liddell, as "Liddell" and "riddle" are phonetically similar in Japanese. Although the magic is seemingly invincible, Leona has broken the collar on his own and stated that the unique magic has it's own weakness, Riddle's unique magic is called "Off with Your Head!" It causes a collar to lock around one's neck, sealing away their magic until he takes it off. As time passed by, and Riddle spent his days doing nothing but studying and following his mother's orders, once again adjusted to the harsh and strict life he has to live through.Ī year before the game takes place, Riddle Rosehearts was recruited to be a student in Night Raven College, in which a week after he enrolled into the school, he became dorm leader of Heartsabyul, and is still the Dorm Leader until now. In addition to the strictness of his schedule, both Trey and Che'nya are banned from ever interacting with Riddle and the two are to not step foot into Riddle's house. He ate until he lost track of time, in which he was found by his angry and upset mother, and was dragged back home.īack in the house, Riddle's mother harshly scolded and reprimanded the distressed Riddle, who begged and cried to his mom to forgive him, but Riddle's mom didn't listen and thus made his studying time even more strict than it already is. There, Riddle tastes the Strawberry Tart, and loved it. Trey and Che'nya wanted Riddle to try his first tart, and the two then brought Riddle to Trey's popular family-owned bakery. One day, while playing together, Riddle stated to Trey and Che'nya that he has never tasted strawberry tarts before, as sweets are prohibited by his mother, much to the surprise of his friends. Riddle stated that playing as a child with Trey and Che'nya together was a really fun experience, and so he would sneak out of his study time unbeknownst to his mother and play with Trey and Che'nya. However after some convincing, Riddle finally played together with the duo. Trey and Che'nya invites Riddle to play together outside, with the hesitant Riddle initially refusing the offer. Riddle told the boys that he is studying under the orders of his mother. One day, RIddle was studying alone when he saw Trey and Che'nya outside of his house, asking the lonely boy what he is doing. Riddle's mother especially put emphasise on RIddle's studying schedule, reminding him multiple times that studies are the most important thing to do and that playing is a pointless activity. Riddle's mother raised him and taught him from a very young age to be a powerful magic user, like herself, with every aspect of Riddle's life controlled by his mother : Clothing, diet, individuals who do/don't deserve to befriend him, etc. Both parents are magic doctors, but his mother seems to be more well-known. The whereabouts of his father is currently unknown, however, it has been implied that his parents don’t get along. Riddle was born and raised in the Rose Kingdom. He will still give punishments towards those who he deemed had broken the rules too far, but is still willing to give second chances to those who genuinely didn't mean to break any rules. He is quite irritable and becomes very angry if someone admits that they are against the rules that he has set in place.Īfter the events of Episode One, he becomes more lenient with his reinforcement of the rules but is still considerably strict. He has no problem "decapitating the heads of rule-breakers" (decapitating meaning using his unique magic to put that person in a collar). Riddle has a strong commitment and dedication for implementing the rules of the Queen of the Hearts and demands all residents of the Heartslabyul dormitory to obey all available rules. The inside of the coat dress is entirely red and has a pattern consisting of tiny hearts, spades, diamonds, clovers, and crowns. His outfit consists of a white and red coat dress with the bottom being lined with a gold-coloured fabric. He wears a small crown leaning on the left side of his head. Riddle has red, mid-length hair that curves inward, V-shaped bangs covering his forehead, side bangs, and two strands of hair forming a heart on top of his head.
